To make this statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya, black granite stone was selected from HD Coat in Mysore, and work on it started in the year 2020.

Statue reached Kedarnath by Chinook helicopter The statue was first transited and then taken to Kedarnath Dham with the help of a Chinook helicopter of the Indian Air Force. This statue was made from black rock stone. There is a new center of attraction for the pilgrims in the Dham.
The new statue was built after the 2013 disaster The Samadhi of Adi Guru Shankaracharya was washed away in the divine disaster that occurred in Kedarnath in June 2013. Later, under the guidelines of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a special design of Shankaracharya’s Samadhi was prepared as part of the reconstruction work of Kedarnath Dham. The mausoleum has been prepared by excavating six meters of land just behind the Kedarnath temple. Shankaracharya’s statue will be installed in the middle of the Samadhi.
Father and son made this statue together Mysore sculptor Yogiraj Shilpi has prepared this statue along with his son, Arun Yogiraj. It was polished with coconut water for shine. Earlier, sculptors from across the country had presented their models to make the statue of Shankaracharya.
Prime Minister’s Office had signed this contract A contract was signed with Yogiraj Shilpi from the Prime Minister’s Office to prepare the statue. Yogiraj purchased stone weighing 120 tonnes as raw material. After completing the chiselling process, the weight of the statue has become 35 tonnes. The work of making the statue started in September 2020.

Arun Yogiraj was contracted by the Prime Minister’s Office after a search for sculptors across the country. Yogiraj started the work of making the idol in September 2020. This idol was installed in Kedarnath Dham in November 2021.
